We’re looking for
An inspirational team leader to join our Waterways Safety Management branch based in Fremantle.
As Team Leader Operational Compliance you will provide training and mentoring to internal and external Compliance Officers. You will coordinate large scale aquatic events, and manage the annual budget and tender requirements for the state wide Patrol Vessel replacement program. You will also oversee the preparation and publishing of work and leave rosters and schedule patrols in line with operational requirements.
The role requires flexibility as you will be required to work weekends, public holidays and also participate on an ‘on-call roster’ (approximately one week in 5). You will also be required to work shifts at any location within the state, when required.
We need someone who can
- Provide an Australian Maritime Safety Authority National System Certificate of Competency (minimum unrestricted Coxswain or equivalent)
- Lead, motivate and develop a team
- Demonstrate substantial knowledge of recreational boating and commercial marine charter industries
- Demonstrate budget and contract management experience
- Plan and coordinate marine compliance and education operations
- Coordinate control and command functions for large scale aquatic events
- Have a flexible approach to working hours
Successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain a current National Police Clearance, a Western Australian marine offence history check and a current valid driver’s licence prior to commencement.

- A detailed CV that clearly outlines the skills and experience you have gained in relation to the job description; and
- A written statement (maximum four (4) pages) addressing only the following selection criteria (SC):
- Certificate of Competency (minimum unrestricted Coxswain or equivalent qualification under the Australian Maritime Safety Authority National System).
- Substantial knowledge of Western Australian recreational boating, commercial marine charter industries and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to plan and coordinate marine compliance and education operations.
- Substantial experience in coordinating control and command functions for large scale aquatic events.
- Experience in budget and contract management including design specifications for small, high speed commercial patrol vessels.
