The role of the Clearing Regulation Officer is a key position in the Department, delivering the State's program to regulation the clearing of native vegetation under Part V Division 2 of the Environment Protection Act 1986 (EP Act).
This exciting and challenging role ensures the timely delivery of the statutory processes for the clearing provisions under the EP Act, including efficiently assessing and appropriately determining native vegetation clearing permits which are effective and enforceable, within target timeframes and for resolving contentious issues that arise from native vegetation clearing permits.
The successful applicant will have proven environmental impact assessment and report writing skills and a proven track record in workload prioritisation, contentious issue and stakeholder relationship management.
Candidates who have demonstrated experience in the regulatory environment and a good knowledge of Western Australian flora, fauna and natural ecosystems will be highly regarded.
Core Responsibilities

The assessment, determination and monitoring of native vegetation clearing permit applications and decisions to ensure compliance with clearing provisions under part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.

The resolution of contentious issues that arise from native vegetation clearing permit applications and decisions.

The Department's inputs into the native vegetation clearing assessment processes.

The provision of advice and liaison with stakeholders on native vegetation clearing regulation issues.

The development, maintenance and sharing of expertise to improve knowledge and build capability throughout the Department.
