The Public Sector Traineeship Program will give you hands-on experience and the skills to make you a valued member of the office team. By the time you have successfully completed the traineeship – a Certificate II, III or IV in Government (Public Administration) – you’ll know how to:
- Perform administration duties
- Process mail
- Work in a team and contribute ideas
- Use a range of software and technology
- Use a range of office equipment
- Deliver an excellent customer service
- Learn the business of Government
Undertaking a traineeship means you can develop useful office skills and gain a qualification while working in a supportive environment – and get paid for it!

Future career pathway
On successful completion of the public sector traineeship, the Commissions Recruitment and Referral Service may assist you in securing another traineeship or entry level 1 position in the WA public sector.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To be considered for a traineeship, you need to be:
- living in Western Australia (Metropolitan or Regional area)
- 17 - 24 years of age
- minimum completion of year 10 or equivalent
- an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- committed to working full time for 12 months or part time for 18 months in an office environment within a public sector agency

It is recommended that you allow at least 15 minutes to complete the online registration, as you are required to fill out an Application Form and attach your resume.

Within seven days of registration you will receive a confirmation email advising you have been successfully regisered into the pool.
