This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency

West Northam Primary School is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic early childhood teacher to join our amazing team.

Our motto at West Northam Primary School is Belong - Respect - Learn, where students aspire to be their best. We foster a sense of belonging and support our students to respect, care and contribute to a positive school community.

Northam is a vibrant regional centre, only 50 minutes from Midland, and West Northam Primary School is one of three public schools in Northam. We have around 150 students, which allows staff to really get to know the students and build great relationships with all students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

At West Northam Primary School, our highly skilled early childhood and senior team leaders provide mentoring and coaching for new teachers, supporting them in implementing our whole-school programs and Teaching for Impact strategies. We offer comprehensive professional learning opportunities and ensure that all staff have access to the resources needed to deliver these programs effectively. Our evidence-based literacy and numeracy initiatives, including Seven Steps Writing, PLD Phonics/Spelling, MiniLit Sage (delivered both as a withdrawal intervention and in-class program by trained education assistants), and Top Ten Maths, are aligned with the Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact framework.

Among the many advantages of joining our team are that every classroom is equipped with an interactive LED panel, and each student has access to an iPad or laptop to support high-quality instruction using the latest technology. As a designated Country Teaching Program (CTP) school, our teachers receive an additional allowance and are eligible for permanency after two years of service. West Northam PS also has a well-established Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework that fosters an orderly and positive learning environment where quality teaching can thrive. In addition, all classes receive extra education assistant time to enhance student learning, and Government Regional Officers’ Housing (GROH) is available for teachers residing in Northam.
