Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is one of the largest and most dynamic public schools in Western Australia, with a student population of over 2,300 and a dedicated team of approximately 180 teaching and 70 support staff. Serving students from diverse geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, the school offers an inclusive and comprehensive education for Years 7 to 12 and is the school of choice for many local and international families.
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and skilled Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher with a particular focus on Gifted and Talented Education and Economics, along with the experience and drive to contribute to a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. The ability to teach Senior School programs is highly desirable.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally:
- Be a dynamic, enthusiastic, and creative educator with a deep understanding of HASS pedagogy.
- Be confident in delivering curriculum that promotes inquiry, analysis, and critical thinking;
- Possess experience teaching Years 7–12 HASS, with a capacity to design conceptually rich and engaging lessons;
- Have experience teaching Senior School courses or hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (highly regarded, though not essential)
- Display strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Be committed to the school’s values of Care, Respect, Responsibility, and Excellence.
- Be willing to contribute to the school’s co-curricular and pastoral care programs.
It is desirable for the successful applicant to ideally have experience with the following Preferred Skills and Professional Commitments:
- Delivering Gifted and Talented curriculum with differentiated learning strategies.
- Using evidence-based instructional practices such as Visible Learning and High-Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS)
- Contributing to professional learning communities and supporting collaborative planning and reflective teaching practice.
- Is confident in delivering curriculum that promotes inquiry, analysis, and deep understanding of the world around us.
- Can inspire students through inclusive, student-centred learning experiences.
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Is willing to contribute to pastoral care and co-curricular programs that enrich student life and strengthen school culture.
