We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As an Education Assistant - Special Needs you should, under general supervision and guidance, perform tasks that require discretion and judgement in achieving clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher. Suitable applicants should have a commitment to working collaboratively with their colleagues to meet the school’s vision.
Suitable applicants will ideally have prior experience working with students who have various behavioural and social needs. Experience in working with students with a range of special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety and trauma is highly desirable. Applicants who have an in-depth knowledge and experience in utilising different communication strategies and Zones of Regulation will have an advantage.
To be suitable for this role, you should be organised and assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs and implement individual student or small group programs. Ideally, applicants should possess the ability to support students in mainstream classes as well as students at educational risk. This role requires applicants to work well within a team environment and maintain good written and oral communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
