Bruce Rock District High School (DHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Bruce Rock DHS is 240 km from Perth and caters for 120 children from Kindergarten to Year 10. Our specialised team of Early Childhood staff provide high quality and engaging classes for the children's first introduction to education. Support for students with Special Needs is provided across the school, and this pool will fill roles in classrooms from Kindergarten to Year 10.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs that will help in the development of young minds. In this role, you will collaborate and work in a team environment with both Teaching staff and other Education Assistants.

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, suitable applicants will assist teachers in providing support for the classroom program, with particular attention to students with special needs. You will, under general supervision and guidance, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. Additionally, you will assist the teacher in the planning and delivery of education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs or demonstrations.

Suitable applicants should ideally have effective interpersonal skills to enable them to work collaboratively with all staff members to meet the needs of students. You will ideally have the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.
