About the Role

Mount Magnet District High School is seeking a dedicated leader for the role of Principal. The school’s vision to develop student’s knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their full potential, become lifelong learners and to make positive contributions to society is of key importance.

The school serves a community of approximately 110 students and their families within a caring and supportive environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students and staff, whilst engaging parents and the wider community in the educational work of the school.

The principal will have a strong understanding of leading a culturally responsive school, valuing the local Aboriginal community.

In collaboration with the leadership team, you will ensure staff are supported to create teaching and learning environments that promote progress and achievement for every student. As the Principal, you will create the conditions for staff to lead the implementation of evidence-based, whole-school teaching and learning programs in core curriculum areas. Ideally, you will have experience and an understanding of the Department of Education's Quality Teaching Strategy, the Student Wellbeing and Care: Future Directions and culturally responsive practice. Proven experience in setting the optimal conditions for teachers to cater to students with diverse learning needs through data informed practice is highly desirable.

The principal is responsible for using innovation and creativity to establish systems and structures fostering academic achievement to nurture the social and emotional development of students, whilst engaging the school community within educational programs of the school. You will possess a commitment to continuous school improvement, and the development of high-quality teaching and learning practices. You will build strategic networks with other schools, local agencies, and services in the community to benefit school programs.  Mount Magnet District High School is part of the Murchison Network and is committed to the Midwest Targeted Teaching Program based on evidence-based practice.

The school has developed extensive programs to support all students, including those with complex needs and students with a disability. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and public relations skills and understand the importance of working with the local community.
