We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Under teacher direction, suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs, and provide valuable feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.

Suitable applicants will ideally be required to support programs relevant to students with high needs including (but not limited to) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), and/or other Physical Disabilities. An ability to work with students in out-of-class activities, during breaks in the school day, and on school excursions may form part of the job.

Suitable applicants, when required, should provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress. Suitable applicants will be responsible for assisting teachers with the supervision of students in out-of-class activities and on school excursions and assist the teacher with the general care and wellbeing of students.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. Suitable applicants should also have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning and behaviour as well as have the skills to competently work without direct supervision.
