CLC located in Lakelands, a south-western suburb of Perth in the City of Mandurah, opened in 2019 and caters for students across Years 7 to 12. We are a fast growing and innovative college which also includes an Inclusive Education hub for students with moderate to severe and profound disabilities.

The Role

CLC is an Independent Public School (IPS) is ideally seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teachers with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated.  Flexibility in a new college will be desirable as well as a commitment to personal and professional growth. The successful applicant should have high standards of professionalism and will ideally embrace opportunities for collaboration within the College community and network schools. The successful applicant to Coastal Lakes College may potentially teach Inclusive Education students within their learning area.

The successful applicant for the position should be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. Applicants should possess the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school HASS curriculum. Teaching background and experience across lower school HASS contexts and the ability to share knowledge and teaching experiences within senior school HASS courses (either Modern History, Geography and/or Psychology - ATAR and/or General pathways), is highly desirable.

As a passionate HASS practitioner you should have commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. Another key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and differentiate educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs. You should model highly effective teaching, learning and assessment principles such as explicit instruction, reciprocal teaching (formative assessment) and feed forward. The College has an imbedded culture of professional growth and development, supported by Instructional Coaching.

The College has a strong Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) focus, working in a collaborative partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education. The successful applicant should demonstrate the ability to develop innovative classroom practices utilising the College’s cutting edge IT infrastructure and  embedded 21 Century Skills within their teaching and learning..
