Our School
At Paraburdoo Primary School (PS), our purpose is to ensure every child is provided with every opportunity every day to develop the skills and knowledge they require to become resilient, well balanced, successful individuals who function positively in society and throughout life.
Paraburdoo PS caters for approximately 200 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Ashburton Shire of the Pilbara. It is the only school in town with enrolments fluctuating depending on the strength of the mining industry. We are a multicultural community, embracing families from around Australia and neighbouring countries.

The Role
We are seeking applicants who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of the children in our community. Suitable applicants will ideally be able to show exemplary teaching skills, be highly motivated and enthusiastic, and should have the ability to work in a team environment and have a commitment to both play-based learning and explicit teaching using an Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) pedagogical model, including daily reviews, engagement tactics and high-quality lesson design.
Suitable applicants should ideally possess a high level of interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff and community members and have the knowledge and experience to embed whole school programs, including PreLit, UFLI foundations, Top Ten Mathematics and Positive Behaviour Support.
At Paraburdoo PS, our Early Childhood Education Teachers will be active team players who are enthusiastic about inspiring students to reach their full potential. A willingness to embrace a trauma-responsive approach and educative practices is essential. Ideally, they will employ data-driven teaching methods and have a solid understanding of how to cultivate a positive, high-expectation classroom environment. An openness to participation in coaching processes, both peer-peer and instructional, will be an advantage.
A strong understanding of the core frameworks, including the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework, is highly desirable. Suitable applicants should also ideally be able to provide differentiated and individualised instruction, utilising strategies to support students with special education needs. Experience or a strong interest in working with students from Aboriginal families and fostering pride in self and culture would be advantageous.
