Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Design and Technology (D&T) teacher (with a focus on Metalwork as highly desirable, as well as ability/interest in teaching Woodwork, and Building and Construction). The successful applicant will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated.

Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Each year we have added an additional cohort and have now reached our full complement of Year 7 -12 in 2025.
Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, nine science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 includes a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre, general classrooms and new STEM and Building and Construction rooms.

The Role
The successful applicant should ideally be a positive and passionate teacher of D&T, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Alkimos College opened in 2020 with Year 7 only and should have the full complement of Years 7 to Year 12 in 2025. The successful applicant should use their professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant D&T curriculum, from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning, through to senior secondary courses. The ability to also teach other Technologies subjects if required, would be advantageous. You should ideally be an enthusiastic adopter of a college wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching and instructional skills, strategies, and tactics. You should ideally be committed to personal and professional growth and embrace opportunities for collaboration.
Successful applicants should ideally possess the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise ICT to provide integrated, personalised, and authentic learning experiences for students. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs. Commitment to the college extra-curricular activities (after-school Academies) is highly desirable, as well as active promotion of the college motto, values and vision within the college and wider community.
Please note that the position is advertised to commence during term 2, however a later starting date (Term 3) may be able to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
