This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025

Southern River College (SRC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Home Economics teacher, with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated.

The Role

The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate teacher of Home Economics, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The successful applicant should use their professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant Home Economics curriculum from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning, through to senior secondary courses. Previous experience and displayed capacity to teach courses in senior school would be advantageous but is not required. The ability to teach Childcare, Textiles and Personal Development or a combination thereof, will be highly regarded. We seek an enthusiastic adopter of a college wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching and instructional skills, strategies, and tactics with a commitment to personal and professional growth who embraces opportunities for collaboration. Southern River College is currently looking at extending its educational offerings and holding or working towards completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in Certificate II in Hospitality would be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to provide integrated, personalised, and authentic learning experiences for students. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs.
