This is a permanent full-time position commencing term 2, 2025

The Role

Narrogin Senior High School (SHS) is committed to appointing staff who are the right fit for our school and community.

The successful applicant will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to create a classroom environment that is caring, differentiated and responsive to the needs of each individual student. You should be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.

The successful applicant will ideally be a reflective teacher with a commitment to continual professional growth to improve their practice. Applicants should also be highly proficient in motivating and maximising the engagement of students, promoting an environment of active and positive learning that enables all students to achieve their highest potential. Ideally, the successful applicant will possess cultural awareness and be focused on delivering programs to individuals and groups, including those students with complex needs, and diagnosed disabilities. The successful applicant should be familiar with a range of curricula and assessment tools, including the Western Australian Curriculum, Abilities Based Learning Education Western Australia (ABLEWA) and ASDAN. Successful applicants will ideally possess experience in implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) strategies, Direct Instruction programmes and implementation of explicit and comprehensive teaching and learning strategies for individual students.

Narrogin SHS is a genuine comprehensive educational institution on a whole school improvement journey encompassing Fogarty EDvance. Our Business plan commenced this year with a clear direction based on instructional leadership and student outcomes. We have a strong academic focus reflecting the aspirations and desires of its contributory community; an outstanding sporting record, and a long-standing commitment to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) program.

The nostalgic two storey structure of the school has pride of place in the town and has been built on the highest point in the district with sweeping views of the town and the hinterlands. An extensive building program has resulted in a new Hospitality Trade Training Facility, a new Administration building, and new state of the art Music and Performing Arts centres. Narrogin SHS also draws students from all directions including Boddington, Wickepin, Pingelly and Wagin.

Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.   

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.  At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
