The Role
The successful applicant will ideally be a motivated, highly skilled and innovative educator to join the Senior Leadership Team. In collaboration with the Principal and members of the executive team they will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision.
The successful applicant should use effective change strategies to lead the school community to accept and develop opportunities for improved performance in the relevant area of responsibility. They will be required to participate in decision making processes and actively promote the educational policies and strategies of the Department of Education and IMSS to instrumental music teachers, school-based administrators, staff and the general community.
The successful applicant should model a culture of self-reflection and improvement providing coaching and mentoring as they promote professional growth and leadership capabilities within teams and in others. We are seeking applicants who possess excellent organisation, communication and public relation skills that allow them to build and maintain collaborative and respectful partnerships across our school community. We value creative thinking that leads to better solutions and outcomes for our students.
The successful applicant should bring to the role a strong sense of passion and motivation in music education through the Brass Learning Area. They should possess a high level of teaching competence in the Arts, Music area of Brass teaching and an understanding of the stylistic requirements of the context. They will ideally possess a knowledge of specific instrumental pedagogy including music literacy, and general curriculum trends in secondary music education.
Central to this position will be the ability to provide educational leadership guided by the IMSS Pedagogical Framework and School Plan. This includes educational leadership, implementation of school-wide initiatives and performance development with brass staff. You will also liaise with the Executive on the management of resources for Brass instruction, including suitable staff deployment, instrument provision and resource centre materials.
