The Role
Riverton PS is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and dynamic Physical Education Teacher to deliver engaging and innovative lessons from Year 1 to Year 6. The successful applicant will ideally have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching practices that inspire a love of physical activity, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles. The role requires evidence-based approaches aligned with the Department of Education’s Quality Teaching Strategy (QTS) and the Teaching for Impact Framework, ensuring all students are supported to achieve their potential. A deep understanding of differentiation and the ability to tailor teaching for english as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) students, as well as those with learning difficulties and disabilities, is desirable. This position also prioritises the inclusion of students from Riverton Education Support Centre (RESC) into mainstream programs, creating an environment where all students can thrive.
Exceptional organisational skills are fundamental to this role. The successful applicant should plan, coordinate, and deliver a variety of school-wide sporting programs, including whole school events, interschool competitions, sporting clinics, and excursions. They will ideally be adept at managing competing priorities, ensuring events are well-executed and promote student participation and engagement. The ability to skilfully and strategically operate the Physical Education Cost Centre to support physical education outcomes will also be a prominent aspect of the role. Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure seamless integration of events and programs into the broader school calendar, is highly valued.
The successful applicant should have outstanding public relations and communication skills to effectively engage with all members of the school community. Teachers at Riverton PS build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders. Clear and open communication will ensure a shared understanding of the school’s goals for physical education and foster strong community support for programs and events. This role requires the ability to represent Riverton PS professionally in various contexts, acting as an ambassador for the school’s commitment to healthy, active lifestyles.
