Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) provides quality teaching, diverse, stimulating performance and enrichment opportunities, supporting every instrumental music student to realise their full potential.
IMSS collaborates with nearly 500 public schools across Western Australia to enhance students' musical education through practical music-making. The Role
IMSS is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Ensemble Teaching - Learning and Events Leadership.
The successful applicant should be a motivated, highly skilled and innovative educator to join the Senior Leadership Team. This role is integral in the leadership of the school to drive school improvement. They may be required to participate in decision making processes and actively promote the educational policies and strategies of the Department of Education and the IMSS to instrumental music teachers, school-based administrators, staff and the general community.
Ideally, the successful applicant will model a commitment to self-reflection and improvement providing coaching and mentoring to promote professional growth and leadership capabilities within teams and in others. It is important to possess excellent organization, communication and public relation skills that allow you to build and maintain collaborative and respectful partnerships across Western Australian communities. IMSS values creative thinking that leads to improved solutions and outcomes for our students.
The successful applicant should bring to the role, a strong sense of passion and motivation in music education through Ensemble Teaching & Learning and Events Leadership. They should illustrate an ability to lead teams in the vision, planning, communicating and production of the suite of IMSS events over 2025. An understanding of the range of ensemble and events opportunities is desirable. Your ability to work with the wider community will be central to the processes and planning of successful events.
Central to this position will be the ability to provide educational leadership guided by the IMSS Whole School Teaching and Learning Program. This includes support and development for a high-quality ensemble teaching and learning program, developed from the WA Curriculum and the IMSS Pedagogical Framework which includes Playing from Notation, Playing by Ear, Playing from Memory, and Improvisation. You will also liaise with the Executive Team on the management of resources for ensemble programs, including suitable staff deployment and resource centre materials.
An aptitude for common office software packages will be advantageous to the successful applicant, as will being able to develop and maintain a strong network of relationships within the educational and privatised music scene, enhancing opportunities for students to perform in all communities.
