The Role
Year Coordinators are provided with time allocation (non-teaching) to conduct their role and as such there is no remuneration provided such as SRA (Special Responsibilities Allowance).
The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the Student Services Team, Learning Area staff, and external agencies to support students in a range of settings. They should encourage positive engagement and achievement at school through providing an environment that nurtures the emotional, physical and academic wellbeing of all students.
The role will see you work in close collaboration with the Student Support team which consists of a Deputy Principal, Student Services Manager, Youth Engagement Coordinators, Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, Student Support Officers, school psychologists, chaplains, and clerical staff; so excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to a productive environment that is inclusive, proactive and flexible is important. You will provide ongoing pastoral support and have a significant part in the daily management of student behaviour, social and emotional support, attendance, engagement, and working closely with students to meet their individual needs.
The role requires the application of intervention strategies to provide a responsible and effective support service for students, family members and staff. The successful applicant should possess strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships. Knowledge and experience in restorative practices, anti-bullying approaches and functional behaviour analysis (FBA) will be highly regarded.
You will ideally have high level knowledge of school and department policy and process, excellent record keeping skills, and the capacity to de-escalate conflict with distressed students, caregivers, and staff. A commitment to ongoing professional learning and professional growth will be highly regarded.
The Year Coordinator will actively lead the Year cohort including case management (including mental health, attendance, behaviour) as such experience and engagement with external agencies along with skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties will be advantageous. As the successful applicant you should actively promote positive culture through Student Service events, assemblies and reward days and possess effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities within timelines and meet deadlines.
The Year Coordinator will have a non-teaching load for 2025, and this would be reviewed on a yearly basis.
