The Western Australian College of Agriculture – Harvey (WACOAH) is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher - Design and Technology (D&T) OR Vocational Trainer and Assessor (VTA) to join our dynamic team in the Trades area in various positions throughout 2025.
WACOAH is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) offering a variety of nationally accredited certificate training courses in modern workshops with industry standard equipment and facilities. We provide Year 10, 11 and 12 students with a unique educational experience focused on innovation and excellence. We currently offer the following certificates in the Trades area:
- AUR20720 Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation
- MEM20422 Certificate II in Engineering Pathways
- MSF20522 Certificate II in Furniture Making Pathways
- CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathway
- AUR20520 Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology
Students can also select higher level units leading to Statements of Attainment in
- MEM20105 Certificate II in Engineering
- MSF20322 Certificate II in Furniture Making

The Role
The role of D&T Teacher or VTA at Harvey is to design, prepare and deliver quality training programs and assessment strategies in various Trade related Certificates to Year 10, 11 and 12 students. Our staff are highly motivated and committed people who are keen to engage and mentor their students, ensuring they are developing knowledge and skills and are fully aware of course requirements, timelines, and resources.
It is ideal (but not essential) that the successful applicant have experience in the delivery of VET Certificate courses and hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. It is highly desirable for applicants to possess industry currency, formal qualifications in one or more of the industry areas mentioned above with the capacity to deliver industry-standard training.
If you are a skilled Trades person with a desire to pass on your knowledge and skills to the next generation but do not have any teaching/training experience, you are still encouraged to make contact and apply. - Demonstrated relevant current industry skills, knowledge, experience and competency in the industry vocation or professional field.
- Demonstrated comprehensive understanding and sound knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training Quality Framework, including training packages, Australian Qualifications Framework, the Standards for RTOs, Recognition of Prior Learning and competency based training and assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to design and prepare training programs and assessment materials to a high standard.
- Demonstrated sound written and verbal communication skills with the appropriate interpersonal skills for working with young people.
- Demonstrated initiative and organisational skills and the ability to work as a member of a team.
