The Role
Teachers in the Hedland SHS Design and Technology team are focused on creating outstanding outcomes for students and empowering every learner. We are a collaborative, supportive and close-knit team in a way that only a high-quality regional school can be. Our practice is data-driven to ensure improvement for our students.
The successful applicant will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with the ability to teach secondary curriculum within the Home Economics contexts, including lower school food and textiles specialisations, and the senior secondary Food Science and Technology course. You will deliver a differentiated curriculum which meets the needs of all students and have an expectation that all students can reach their potential. Teachers and School Administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 677 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
