This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2025

WA College of Agriculture – Harvey (WACOA - Harvey) is located about 1.5 hours south of Perth, Western Australia and is 20 minutes from the ocean and 30 minutes north of Bunbury. It is situated in the heart of the Harvey irrigation district, which services the dairy and horticultural industries and enjoys access to a significant range of agricultural industry and recreational opportunities.

The College is co-educational and can fully board up to 128 students who come from all areas of the state. A small percentage of students access the program on a daytime basis from closer locations.

The Role

WACOA – Harvey is seeking a new Agricultural Training Officer for our Parks and Gardens area.

Agricultural Training Officers assist in the daily management and operations of the Crops and Horticultural Division of the farm and conduct training and assessment in that context. As such the successful applicant will have specific industry skills in crops and horticulture and will have (or be supported to develop) a range of generic skills such as:

  • Park and garden maintenance
  • Orchard and Vine production
  • Vegetable production

Agricultural Training Officers also assist in the preparation of agricultural training programs and are involved with the instruction and supervision of groups of year 10 to 12 students in a workplace environment.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work as part of a close team, have strong organisational skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with young adult students.

Although this position is currently listed as 0.6 FTE there may be an opportunity to increase to 1.0 FTE in the future.

Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.

The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.

Level 1.3, $65,958 - Level 1.4, $68,636 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022) + 15.3% commuted allowance (PSCA 2022)

Level 2, $70,432 - $75,516 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022)

Level 3, $79,156 - $84,977 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022)
