The Role
Hampton SHS is seeking an organised, innovative and motivated individual to fill the position of Network Administrator. Ideally, this process will yield two high quality applicants to fill 1.6 full-time equivalent (FTE), with the first ranked applicant employed in their preferred FTE.
The role of the Network Administrator is to maintain the school’s Information Technology network to maximise both educational and administrative outcomes, within the Departmental asset management and security regulatory framework. You will provide advice to administration staff on technical issues associated with the network system and provide technical support and training to all users. The Network Administrator will also provide input on system enhancements and implement new systems through research and identification of appropriate Information Technology resources.
Hampton is not currently a Bring your own Device (BYOD) school and leases laptops for student use in classrooms, facilitated by desktop labs of high quality to ensure classes such as Media, Digital Technologies and iVet certificate classes can run effectively. In line with Department of Education (DOE) supported platforms, we use a Windows platform and Microsoft applications across our teaching and learning environments. Our goal is a 1:1 ratio of computer to student and by careful budgeting, maintenance of computers and planning, we are close to reaching that target. In 2025, Hampton will bring in an Optional BYOD Policy for Year 11 and 12 students, and for students who require a functional adjustment of a device to assist learning in the classroom. As a new program, this will require significant consideration by the Network Administrator/s to ensure its success. All teachers and education assistants are also provided with a laptop to ensure they can undertake their roles with students in an optimum manner.
Hampton SHS was built in 1966, so considerable work has been undertaken to bring each classroom and professional learning area into the twenty first century, this work is ongoing. With growing numbers (2025 – predicted 1060 students, 140 staff), we are constantly creating and reinvigorating new classroom spaces, including the installation of four to five (4-5) transportable classrooms for the 2025 school year.
