Glen Forrest Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Our focus at Glen Forrest PS is to provide a positive and supportive learning environment using innovative and contemporary teaching practices, enabling our students to reach their individual potential whilst feeling both challenged and supported. We endeavour to apply evidence-based programs and practice in literacy and numeracy, with a current focus on having consistency across classrooms as we embrace current research around the science of learning.

Being a small school, we have strong relationships with all students and our wider community. Decision-making revolves around our students, and we consistently consider diversity of abilities and needs of those in our care. At the same time, we set high expectations to foster opportunities for success and leadership.  As a staff, we believe in constant reflection as a means for constant growth and improvement. Our school motto is ”Proud to Belong”.

The Role

As a teacher at Glen Forrest PS, you will ideally be highly committed to both student wellbeing and academic progress and achievement. You should be familiar with and willing to invest in the principles of the science of learning, which has been a major focus at Glen Forrest PS over the last few years. You will use evidence-based practice and school-wide programs, engaging in explicit instruction and setting high expectations. Our staff are guided by the department’s Teaching for Impact document, consistently striving to refine our strategies for best results.

As a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school, we believe in our four values of being Respectful, Responsible, Caring and Kind, and Striving to be our Best. Everything we do here is linked with and underpinned by PBS as we believe that positive behaviours result in student achievement. All students are actively taught expected behaviours as well as social skills, and our behaviour management is deeply rooted within an educative, reflective and restorative framework. We celebrate students’ positive choices using a school – wide system and we support those needing extra guidance. Experience in the successful implementation of PBS would be considered desirable.

Suitable applicants for this role should have an understanding of student diversity – both in academics and social/emotional needs. Experience with inclusion and making sustainable, manageable and reasonable adjustments to support all student success would be advantageous.
