The Role

Como SC is looking to appoint a highly competent and dedicated Technologies – Design and Technology teacher.

The successful applicant should have a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning and exhibit highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.

An excellent knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner are also desirable qualities. The ability to teach any of the following courses will be an advantage:

  • General Materials Design and Technology Wood
  • General Materials Design and Technology Metal
  • Lower school Design and Technology, Engineering or Digital Technologies contexts such as Robotics, Product design, Mechatronics, Material design, Computer Graphics, Applied Technology, Computer Animation.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to display how they will provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.

The initiative to work well with your colleagues as part of a team to develop teaching strategies, resources and approaches to ensure each student can reach their maximum potential should be addressed in your application.

The successful applicant should have a growth mindset and be committed to the school’s Instructional Model which is based on practices that have a strong evidence base for their effectiveness. It is expected that all teachers will participate in the school’s Instructional Coaching program. Skills and knowledge in these areas will be an advantage.

A strong record of working in constructive collaboration with a variety of school teams will be a distinct advantage.
