This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 in the Health and Physical Education learning area.

Albany Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate leader as Head of Learning Area – Health and Physical Education (HOLA – HPE).

The Role

The HOLA - HPE is a vital member of Albany Senior High School’s leadership team, responsible for driving excellence and innovation within the HPE learning area. Aligned with the school’s vision and strategic direction, the HOLA – HPE provides high-level support to teaching staff through coaching, classroom observations, and constructive feedback. They will exhibit a forward-thinking approach in translating the school’s strategic direction into a comprehensive learning area improvement plan, setting clear goals and priorities for staff. Working closely with the Principal and School Leadership Team, the HOLA – HPE plays a key role in enhancing the quality of teaching by developing engaging programs that cater to the diverse needs of students and align with the Department’s Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact framework.

The successful applicant will demonstrate exemplary professional standards and embrace opportunities for collaboration and partnerships within and beyond the school community. An essential component of the role involves gathering and analysing data to monitor student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practice and team performance. The HOLA – HPE will be a passionate advocate for Health and Physical Education, promoting our school’s programs and creating a supportive environment where students thrive both academically and personally.
