We are seeking to establish a pool Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Kenwick School is an independent public school (IPS) that teaches students aged 4 to 19 years, with wide ranging special educational needs. These include severe to profound intellectual disabilities, sensory and physical impairments, as well as other complex medical and behavioural conditions.

The Role
As a Education Assistant - Special Needs, you are going to work with students with disabilities and additional learning needs. Suitable applicants will ideally be friendly, positive, student focussed and team spirited.
Through previous experience, you will ideally display the ability to deliver and evaluate planned education programs. You should have a high level of written and oral communication skills. Suitable applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate well with the teacher to help create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. Suitable applicants for this role should be well-organised and will be able to use initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment. These skills will also be utilised to aid teachers by assisting with the general care and well-being of students.

- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
