The Role
We are seeking a dynamic individual with the passion and commitment to our moral purpose of “success for every student, everyday”. The successful applicant will have demonstrated effective leadership skills and professional knowledge in supporting students, staff and parents across a learning support capacity. They will ideally be skilled in the completion and review of individual disability allocations and the development of profiles and education plans for Students at Educational Risk (SAER). They will be responsible for the completion of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Equity Access Arrangement applications and for managing and collecting data for the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), School of Special Educational Needs (SSEN) reporting for identified students. In addition, applicants should have high quality presentation skills and a proven track record of delivery of effective professional learning for teachers. The successful applicant will line manage the SEN team as well as provide additional learning support across the school. This position requires strong organisational and interpersonal skills to oversee a large team and cohorts of students. A high level of communication skills is desired, to effectively liaise with school leaders, teachers, parents, students, and a range of external stakeholders.
The key responsibilities of the Program Coordinator – Learning Support may include:
- Line management of the SEN teacher and Education Assistants
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review individual education plans, CPFS plans and group education plans
- Submission of Disability Resourcing applications, Disability reviews and checklists
- Case management of students with diagnosed conditions including diagnosis documentation, family and outside agencies liaison, and teacher communication
- Whole school strategic planning in related areas such as transition, professional learning, parent and community engagement and NDIS
- Collaboration with relevant school leaders and staff with regards to assessment adjustments and applications
- Ensure Education Assistants maintain their capacity to support teachers appropriately based on student and classroom need using contemporary approaches and ongoing learning.
- Continue to develop an inclusive approach to students with additional needs, whilst maintaining support, care and monitor student progress
- Conduct weekly meetings for the SEN team
- Maintaining and updating the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
- Build the capacity of staff and enable the school to become more inclusive of students with diverse learning needs.
- Managing the transition process from Year 6 to Year 7 for students with identified special needs.
- Liaising with SSEN visiting teachers
The successful applicant will ideally display exceptional strategic planning and operational management skills to support working in a shared, collaborative arrangement with staff. The ability to provide professional leadership, build the capacity of staff and promote inclusivity and positive educational outcomes for students is highly regarded. As part of the Senior Leadership team, you would contribute strategically to whole school planning and need to show commitment to the College’s explicit direct instruction and conditions for learning approaches.
