We are seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Como Secondary College (SC) is an independent public school with students in Years 7 to 12 located between Manning Road and Canning Highway in the City of South Perth. The school has four very successful Department of Education endorsed specialist programs: Golf, Hockey, Music and Enriched Mathematics, Information Technology and Science (EMITS). Students from around Western Australia and overseas are enrolled in these programs. In 2019 the College commenced a school based enrichment program for students pursuing their passion in Literature and the Arts. This program offers students with aptitude in English and The Arts the opportunity to refine and build on their talents in a tailored, stimulating and dynamic environment. The Arts in education provides students with the opportunity to engage the mind, the body and emotions into a collaborative expression of all that it means to be human. Through study and performance, students explore and present great themes and ideas.
Como SC has a school wide approach to teaching that is based on explicit instruction and the application of the principles of effective instruction and feedback. Explicit teaching at Como is defined as those actions which a teacher takes to clearly and in detail impart knowledge or instruct someone how to do something leaving no room for confusion or doubt. It is a very active process that can be thought of as the engineering of effective learning environments.
