Parkwood Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025 Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Suitable applicants should ideally possess knowledge and understanding of working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties or learning disabilities. Sound understanding of students from linguistically diverse backgrounds and cultures is highly desirable. The role aims to address the overall health and wellbeing, and instructional support to students with special needs in a supportive education environment.
In this role you will collaborate and work in a strong team-based environment, contributing your knowledge and expertise to support our students to achieve their best. This may be under general supervision or autonomously. You will work closely with classroom teachers to ensure the best education for all.
You will ideally have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly motivated, and possess sound written and oral communication skills to support individual or small group-based programs. Just as importantly, you should have the capacity to support the overall health and emotional well-being of our students.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
