We are seeking to establish a pool of Gardener - Handypersons for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is proud to be an Independent Public School, located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele, many who travel great distances to engage in our Approved Specialist Programs, our Centre of Resources Excellence Program (CoRE), or reside at the Rotary Residential College located onsite. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area, with the ultimate aim that Kent Street SHS is their recognised and respected secondary school of choice.

The Role

Join our team as a Gardener - Handyperson and contribute to fostering a positive learning environment! As a key member, you'll be instrumental in maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to a positive environment for both students and staff. From overseeing the turf areas, garden beds and shrubs to managing hard landscaping features like courts and paving, you'll play a vital role in creating an inviting and inspiring outdoor space.

Your commitment to maintaining gardening facilities, equipment, and tools in a good condition will be important in promoting a positive culture within the school. You will be required to perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.

In this role you will provide advice and support to the Facilities Coordinator and Manager Corporate Services on school grounds and maintenance.

Suitable applicants should display effective communication skills, be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and external stakeholders and be able to work unsupervised, with the ability to identify and recognise work that is required to be completed. You should also be well organised, have attention to detail, a positive outlook and be a team player..
