Port Hedland Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Port Hedland PS is in the Pilbara region and is located on the Port Hedland side of the Hedland area. We cater to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 within a friendly, supportive and welcoming environment.
Students at our school have a range of opportunities to develop academically, socially and personally with the support and care of dedicated teachers and school staff working with families. The team at Port Hedland PS strive to create positive partnerships with students and parents. By working together in a spirit of mutual cooperation to address each child’s needs, we hope to provide every child with the foundation he or she requires to be successful in the future.
Students come to our school from a diverse range of backgrounds. We understand that each child is unique and has their own special qualities. We provide a strong pastoral care program which includes the services of a school psychologist and have implemented well-being programs.
At Port Hedland PS we deliver the West Australian Curriculum using the gradual release of responsibility model, which incorporates explicit teaching within a co-operative learning environment. This includes the use of CMS strategies, multimodal learning and Literacy and Numeracy Blocks in addition to the utilisation of intervention strategies and programs such as MulitLit’s InitiaLit and MacLit programs.
