The Role
Teachers at Harvey SHS can make a lasting contribution to the school community by ensuring each student is on a pathway to success, through consistent partnerships with students and their families. We seek staff who are confident in teaching across Years 7 to Year 12 and have a sound understanding of the West Australian (WA) Health and Physical Education Curriculum. In our highly supportive learning and working environment, our teachers’ skills, capabilities, and future aspirations are developed and extended through coaching, internal and external professional learning opportunities and through our supportive performance development model.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. They should incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students. Knowledge of, and the ability to use learning strategies that successfully engage students will be highly regarded. The successful applicant will ideally engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching philosophy, and be committed to whole-school pedagogical approaches. They should have high expectations, and display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and can establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment using a ‘restorative’ approach that focuses on building resilience and self-confidence.
