Dryandra Primary School (PS) is a small school nestled in amongst the swaying gum trees in the suburb of Mirrabooka. The Role
Dryandra Primary School is seeking a highly motivated and proactive English as Additional Language Dialect (EAL/D) Teacher.
The successful applicant should support the implementation of the school strategic plan, work and teach in a team environment and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. The learning environment you create will ideally be differentiated, challenging, caring and creative, while catering for a range of needs that sees all students progressing and achieving. You should also be collaborative and work effectively and lead a small team to develop a whole school approach to EAL/D implementation. The program targets include;
- Improvement in oral and written Stand Australian English competence for EAL/D student
- Personnel involved in the school become empowered to address the EAL/D students’ specific educational needs; and
- The parents/caregivers of the EAL/D students become more involved in educational decision making.
Key Outcomes include:
- Increase staff capacity to use the EAL/D Progress Map as a planning, monitoring and assessment tool
- Increase staff capacity to plan for EAL/D students in the classroom
- Increase staff capacity to select and use high impact EAL/D strategies
- Increase engagement with the school’s Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) community
- Model high impact EAL/D strategies in the classroom
- Provide feedback to staff on the use of identified high impact EAL/D strategies
- Assist staff to develop self-assessment and feedback techniques to measure their impact
- Increase staff capacity to report on EAL/D students using the EAL/D Progress Map
