Situated just under 30 kilometres south of Perth, Armadale Senior High School (SHS) is a proud Independent Public School that services a diverse student population.  The school offers highly enriched pathways for students depending on their skills, needs and interests.  This includes the ‘Aspire’ academic extension program, as well as Department of Education-endorsed Specialist Programs in the Visual Arts & Technologies.  The school is proud to host a range of Vocational Education & Training (VET) courses with direct links to the workforce; including access to hands-on, industry-level training in the hospitality, automotive and engineering sectors.

The Role

Armadale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join their friendly team. As the Laboratory Technician, your role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our science curriculum.

You'll support the Head of Learning Area and teaching staff by providing expert guidance on experiments and demonstrations that meet curriculum standards. This involves meticulous preparation of chemicals, equipment, and teaching aids, all while adhering strictly to laboratory protocols and legislative requirements for handling living organisms and materials.

Another key aspect of your role will be organising and maintaining preparation areas and classroom laboratories. This includes upholding high standards of housekeeping for chemicals, equipment repairs, and general resource management. You'll also oversee the management of laboratory stocks, from ordering supplies to conducting annual stock-takes, ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines throughout.

Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of science equipment, chemicals, and biological materials. Your responsibilities will encompass safe use, documentation, storage, handling, maintenance, and proper disposal practices. Furthermore, you'll contribute to budget coordination by monitoring expenditures and managing financial accounts in accordance with departmental protocols.
