The Role
Brookton District High School is looking for a Deputy Principal to join our strong, dedicated teaching team and become an integral part of our Brookton school community. The successful applicant will assist the school Principal to facilitate workforce effectiveness in leading and motivating staff in planning directed at improving outcomes for students and the level of service delivered by the school. They will contribute to developing the School Plan through participative decision-making, assisting in developing policy, and establishing and maintaining systems.
In addition to this, we are ideally looking for a curriculum leader with the following skill set:
- An experienced instructional leader in Explicit Instruction, preferably having completed the Teachwell program
- Capacity to lead the Mathematics learning area
- Confident data analysis skills
- Familiarity with K-10 curriculum - There is a classroom teaching component to this position in the high school area
The successful applicant will use effective change management strategies to assist the school community to accept and develop opportunities for improved service. They will lead our Student Services team and ideally have experience in;
- Leading and/or coaching a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) team
- Special Educational Needs (SEN) planning
- Supervision of staff working with students with special needs
- Familiarity with alternative engagement and education programs, such as ASDAN
- Implementation of, and expertise in trauma informed practices
- Strong community engagement skills
- Analysis of attendance data, implementation of attendance initiatives and plans
The successful applicant will be a culturally responsive leader who demonstrates a strong understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards framework and shows strong commitment to creating a school culture that is culturally responsive. They will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by helping develop and promote the school values, ethos and priorities, and encouraging staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school’s vision and goals

Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
