The role and our branch
We are looking for a dynamic communications all-rounder who has creative flair, a ‘can-do’ approach, loves meaningful and varied work, and thrives from being part of an energetic and collaborative team.
You will be working as a part of the Digital Content team, that has a range of responsibilities, including:
- writing clear and engaging content for our websites, intranet and social media platforms
- collaborating with the wider Communications team, and with a range of key stakeholders, to coordinate and evaluate digital communications
- managing content on our digital platforms in line with policies and processes and digital best practice
- monitoring and reporting on website, intranet and social media performance and contributing to the continuous improvement of the same
- analysing data and developing content strategies to meet strategic communication goals
- monitoring and moderating social media
- creating and editing authentic and meaningful video and photography for use across digital communications channels
- contributing to the timely delivery of communication and engagement support as directed by the Manager Digital Content.
Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, you will need a high level of attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Experience in using content management systems will be an advantage. Experience using design programs, such as InDesign and Premier Pro, plus social media management tools, will also be an advantage, but are not essential.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
