The Role
Piara Waters PS is seeking to appoint a dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher. The successful applicant will commence the role during term three (3), however, if this is not possible, there is flexibility to commence the role at the start of term four (4), 2024.
The successful applicant will teach year three to six physical education classes. Whilst the focus of this role is on teaching middle and upper primary physical education, the successful applicant may also teach some Pre-primary to year two classes.
The successful applicant should possess high standards of professionalism and will work collaboratively with the full-time, junior physical education teacher. Together, you will plan and implement the high standard of physical education instruction and events that are a cornerstone of our successful school.
You will co-facilitate our successful Running Club, held on Tuesday mornings before school, and support the development of team skills through interschool event training before school, leading up to interschool carnivals. You will work with the other physical education teacher to plan and lead athletics carnivals, including athletics and cross country, and interschool winter, summer and AFLW carnivals. You should be a collaborative and proactive contributor to the physical education network of our surrounding schools. You will facilitate the year six student faction leaders and develop their leadership and organisation skills.
Our teachers know their students and the curriculum well and classroom programs are responsive to these. You should have a high level of WA curriculum, instructional and assessment knowledge and, ideally, have a proven track record of working effectively in a collaborative team. You should possess the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to implement an engaging and relevant primary school Physical Education curriculum. As an expert practitioner, you should show commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection.
All students at Piara Waters PS are encouraged to thrive in Physical Education. The successful applicant should work positively and effectively with all students and families and be able to differentiate the curriculum in order to meet differing student needs.
