Hammond Park Secondary College (SC) is seeking an engaging and dedicated Learning Support Coordinator to join our growing college.
The Learning Support Coordinator supports staff to plan, deliver, monitor, assess and evaluate differentiated teaching and learning programs that meet the educational needs of students with disabilities and learning difficulties. They consult, support and collaborate with staff, parents and outside agencies to build the capacity of staff and enable the college to support students with diverse learning needs.
The successful applicant should have a detailed understanding of curriculum and assessment across 7-12 and have an in depth knowledge of writing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and SEN reporting. The successful applicant should understand intervention programs, data literacy skills, and an ability to develop Literacy and Numeracy supports as these are an integral part of this role. Knowledge of Disability Resourcing and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) would be desirable.
The Learning Support Coordinator is an integral leadership role and should show a commitment to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice as well as commitment to planning and engaging in professional learning opportunities, including collaboration with colleagues. You should show a willingness to contribute and maintain a team environment working closely with the Executive Team to support the strategic directions of the College. This role will include line management of Education Assistants.
The college also places wellbeing at the centre of what we do and has a Wellbeing Framework based on the Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement and Health (PERMAH) principles. PERMAH influences our policies and procedures, and forms the curriculum taught in our Homeroom Program and within learning areas. Staff and student wellbeing is a priority and working from our strengths is important.
Located in Hammond Park on Irvine Parade, the college opened in 2020 to Year 7 Students and by 2025 be a full 7-12 secondary college. The college buildings include state of the art classrooms, a library, administration and extensive student services area. The college also features specialist facilities for performing and visual arts, science laboratories, food and textiles, design and technology workshops and a gymnasium. The cafeteria is the hub of the central precinct and provides indoor and outdoor seating, landscaped gardens and open spaces. Multipurpose courts and oval were also included in the first stage of the build.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
