Teachers and school administrators employed at Mullewa District High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $17,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
We are looking for a caring and passionate Teacher - Early Childhood Education. You will work in a great environment with a fulltime assistant, great facilities, resources, and equipment. Having a low number of students enables us to run a pre-Kindy second semester.
The successful applicant will implement the Early Childhood Education program for Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, and Year 1 students. You will be required to communicate with children in a way that is age appropriate. It is also important in this role to have excellent skills in communicating with families about their children's skills, abilities, and achievements to provide the best learning experiences for their child.
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally have a love of teaching and a love of learning. We are looking for someone who respects that every child and their family is unique and valued. You should ideally be dedicated to your work as well as being organised and prepared. We are looking for someone who loves working as a team member with all staff, non-teaching, teachers, and administration. The ideal teacher will have extensive knowledge of the Early Years Framework and the WA Curriculum. Knowledge of phonics programs and high impact teaching is beneficial. Additionally, it will be beneficial if you have knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and are able to work in culturally responsive manner.

Mullewa is located only 99 kilometres east-northeast of Geraldton. Mullewa is a diverse and resilient community, rich in both natural and cultural heritage. Living within an hour’s drive to the city of Geraldton you can enjoy shopping, beaches and other social activities. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
