Appointment Pool
Donnybrook District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Secondary Generalist Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Donnybrook District High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
Donnybrook District High School (DHS) is looking to appoint passionate and enthusiastic teachers with the commitment and drive to engage our Year 7-10 students in all learning areas. Our school provides students with an opportunity to grow and learn within a middle school model and teachers are required to teach across more than one learning area. The successful applicant should ideally possess the professional knowledge, understanding, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum through a finely crafted programs that emphasises both practical and theoretical knowledge and is tailored to student needs and interests. This position entails the ability to utilise data to differentiate curriculum, embed cross curricular focuses, including the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), DigiTech, and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes using multi-age group planning. You would build positive relationships with students while focusing on their strengths. A sense of adventure is desired to facilitate students developing the social and emotional awareness of students in conjunction with our partnership with AdventureWorks.
You would ideally be highly motivated, student and relationship focused, and able to provide engaging, data driven, and meaningful learning experiences. You should utilise research-informed initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This should involve reflecting upon and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice, as well as cultivating a safe learning environment, underpinned by our core values of Consider, Aspire, Respect and Engage. As we continue our focus on Social and Emotional Learning, it is imperative for the successful applicant to incorporate strategies that support students to develop competencies which include the CASEL Framework including, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
