Appointment Pool
Rivergums Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and highly organised School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.
Suitable applicants will work collaboratively with the Manager Corporate Services (MCS) by assisting with administrative duties, including financial processing when required.
As a School Officer you will be integral in helping the administration team promote the school's culture, vision, values and future direction. Suitable applicants should possess excellent communication and public relations skills which will be important in building and maintaining relationships with our schools' parents, students and staff.
A high level of organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure, will be highly regarded.
As a part of our team, you should be able to effectively prioritise your workload, work independently, use initiative, and problem-solve. Suitable applicants will ideally be highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, reliable, have a sense of humour and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Suitable applicants should provide a high level of customer service in all matters of student services in a timely and efficient manner. As a School Officer you will be the 'face' of Student Services at the front desk – meeting and greeting students and staff and triaging issues and concerns.
Rivergums PS opened in 2016 and offered positive and challenging learning programs encouraging all students to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and values to become successful, confident and creative individuals.
A feature of Rivergums PS is the dedicated staff with a shared commitment to the School's Vision and Values. The teachers and support staff have a wide range of experience, with some at the beginning of their careers and others with a vast range of backgrounds.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in providing general office administrative support with ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
