Appointment Pool
Rostrata Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2025 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2026.
At Rostrata PS, we pride ourselves on the strength of our community spirit and all staff being committed to a culture of innovation and teaching excellence underpinned by reflection, feedback, collaboration, positive relationships, trust and learning.
Rostrata PS is an Independent Public School located in the southern Perth suburb of Willetton. Our school caters for students from K-6 and is in the local intake area for Willetton Senior High School. The school has a diverse, multicultural community of over 1000 highly motivated students with very supportive parents and caregivers and is staffed by a team of skilled, committed and innovative teaching and non-teaching staff who provide dynamic learning programs to cater for the needs of our students. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school, placing a strong emphasis on providing a culturally responsive, inclusive and supportive environment for students and prioritise the health and wellbeing of students and educators. We seek staff who bring a strengths-based approach and who prioritise building productive relationships with students, families, and the broader community.
As a school, we are focused on providing quality teaching to ensure high standards of student engagement and achievement. Suitable applicants will ideally be highly motivated and should have a commitment to explicit, high impact teaching strategies, student engagement norms and establishing a positive classroom environment with consistent routines. This includes the use of daily reviews to revise previously taught concepts, designing learning experiences aligned with Cognitive Load Theory and being skilled at modelling, guided practice, checking for understanding and responding to assessment data to plan next steps in learning.
In Early Childhood, you should be skilled at balancing explicit teaching and play-based learning, incorporating the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework into your planning. Experience with the Letters and Sounds synthetic phonics program will be highly regarded.
You should be committed to whole school approaches to teaching literacy and numeracy, including evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading. The benefit of a large school is the opportunity to collaborate with a greater number of colleagues. We are looking for collaborative team players with a commitment to our CARE values who have strong interpersonal skills, a desire to grow professionally and can show they contribute effectively to a professional learning community to benefit student learning.
All teachers at Rostrata PS engage in our reflective practice model, which includes being allocated an instructional coach to support teacher professional growth in implementing student engagement norms and the agreed instructional framework, which is aligned with the Department of Education WA’s Teaching for Impact model. Our instructional coaching process is focused on continuous improvement and the premise, “If we create a culture where every teacher believes they need to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better, there is no limit to what we can achieve,” (Dylan Wiliam).
We are also looking for educators with English as an Additional Language or Dialect knowledge due to the high number of students in our school who require support to attain proficiency in English. We highly value the capacity to enhance critical and creative thinking skills that extend our very capable students. We have an established Bring Your Own Device iPad program in Years 2-6, promote the use of Apple Classroom, and our staff innovate with technology and integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) to support our students to share and apply their learning in creative ways that build their skills for the future.
Our school offers a high quality, holistic education including the provision of a diverse range of specialist programs including our highly regarded Music program, the Kitchen Garden and cooking program, Science, Italian, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Health. Vacancies for specialist teaching positions may arise within the life of the pool and applications are encouraged for these roles.
