Dawul Remote Community School (RCS) is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and culturally responsive Aboriginal Education Teacher to join their dynamic and collaborative team.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Dawul Remote Community School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
About the Role
This role will suit someone who is relationship-focused and highly motivated to create exciting, culturally responsive learning experiences, igniting the desire to learn in students. This is a very small ECE class with less than 10 students between PP and Year 2.
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff and the wider community. You should be highly motivated and implement high quality, engaging and effective learning programs. Experience and skills in evidence-based literacy teaching pedagogies is desirable. Experience of explicit targeted teaching/Explicit Instruction and experience in, or knowledge of, the Kimberley Schools Project (KSP) would be highly desirable.
As a teacher in a KSP school, the successful applicant – if not already trained - must make a commitment to undergo the KSP delivered training provided, to ensure continuity of the Explicit Instruction teaching strategies that are embedded in our literacy program.
You will ideally create an inclusive, supportive and stimulating learning environment. You should promote a positive learning environment and support our school priority of strengthening Early Childhood Education. You will ideally be committed to Aboriginal Education and living and working in a remote location, understanding the challenges of working remotely.
You will ideally have a strong work ethic, be flexible and open to change and continuously strive to achieve. You should engage in data-informed practice and ongoing self-reflection.

The Location and Community
Dawul RCS is located 110 km southwest of Kununurra on the Great Northern Highway in the East Kimberley Region of Western Australia. The school is situated on Doon Doon Station, an Aboriginal owned cattle station of approximately one million acres (formerly Dunham River Station.) We are only a few hours drive from the Unesco World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park with the famous Bungle Bungle Range in one direction, and the El Questro Wilderness Park and entrance to the famous Gibb River Road in the other.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
