Safety Bay Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and talented Arts Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2024. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2024.
Suitable applicants will ideally self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, you would work closely with students, teachers, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
As an Arts teacher, you would be one who attempts to engage all students in learning, through a differentiated program delivery that accounts for variance in learning styles, individual needs and academic levels. You should be dedicated to planning and delivering high quality teaching programs that promote student engagement and achievement in the Arts area. You will develop and engage students in arts theory and practice in order to enrich their Arts experience, often taking a cross curricular approach with other Arts teachers. The context for this position may be in the Performing Arts or Visual Arts. Safety Bay SHS offers The Arts in the contexts of Media, Photography, Drama, Music, Dance, 2D Visual Art and 3D Visual Art. It would be an advantage if applicants were able to teach across more than one of these contexts.
Experience in industry and/or delivering Vocational Education and Training programs, including holding a Certificate II in Creative Industries and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or the possibility to undertake training in these fields is also highly desirable.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
