Narrogin Senior High School (SHS) is an Independent Public School seeking to appoint two (2) enthusiastic, qualified, creative, and innovative Education Support Teachers who have the ability to work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best possible outcomes for each and every student.
About the role
Narrogin SHS is committed to appointing staff who are the right fit for our school and community.
The successful applicant will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to create a classroom environment that is caring, differentiated and responsive to the needs of each individual student. You should be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
The successful applicant will ideally be a reflective teacher with a commitment to continual professional growth to improve their practice. Applicants should also be highly proficient in motivating and maximising the engagement of students, promoting an environment of active and positive learning that enables all students to achieve their highest potential. Ideally, the successful applicant will possess cultural awareness and be focused on delivering programs to individuals and groups, including those students with complex needs, and diagnosed disabilities. The successful applicant should be familiar with a range of curricula and assessment tools, including the Western Australian Curriculum, Abilities Based Learning Education Western Australia (ABLEWA) and ASDAN. Successful applicants will ideally possess experience in implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) strategies, Direct Instruction programmes and implementation of explicit and comprehensive teaching and learning strategies for individual students.
Our school
Narrogin SHS is a genuine comprehensive educational institution on a whole school improvement journey encompassing Fogarty EDvance. Our new Business plan commenced this year with a clear direction based on student outcomes. We have a strong academic focus reflecting the aspirations and desires of its contributory community; an outstanding sporting record, and a long-standing commitment to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) program.
The nostalgic two storey structure of the school has pride of place in the town and has been built on the highest point in the district with sweeping views of the town and the hinterlands. An extensive building program has resulted in a new Hospitality Trade Training Facility, a new Administration building, and new state of the art Music and Performing Arts centres. Narrogin SHS also draws students from all directions including Boddington, Wickepin, Pingelly and Wagin.
The location and community
Narrogin SHS is situated in the heart of Western Australia's rich agricultural area and with over 550 students we are one of the largest Senior High School in the region, with three local feeder primary schools and TAFE that work closely with the school. Narrogin is a major service and educational centre approximately two hours’ drive (193 km) from Perth and has the convenience of a country town with the benefits of a regional city. Teachers and School Administrators employed at Narrogin Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
