Tom Price Senior High School is seeking to appoint a passionate and highly motivated Deputy Principal to provide educational leadership across the school and support the Principal to work on improving the school’s teaching and learning environment as well implementing the new school improvement plan.
As an integral member of the executive leadership team, you will work collaboratively with the principal to drive a culture of continuous school improvement, providing educational leadership in the school and the community by promoting the school’s strategic directions. You will be responsible for leading and enhancing our Positive Behaviour Support focus, providing whole school direction for our attendance initiative and leading data informed positive interventions for student and community well-being. The ability to build and maintain safe, positive learning environments where students flourish is important for our students’ success.
The successful applicant will have a deep belief that every student can achieve success and be able to provide educational leadership to a team that ensures students are engaged and become successful learners. With the commitment and desire to create and sustain a student-centred learning environment, you will display excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with students, parents and staff, and the ability to develop and maintain positive and effective partnerships with external agencies, and members of the community.
Applicants should have experience in successfully improving efficiency and operations in managing and monitoring conditions for learning and wellbeing of staff and students in Year 7 - 9. A strong understanding of whole school improvement and managing student needs within the Multi-Tiered System of Support Framework is highly regarded for this role.
This role includes managing transition and enrolment processes, engaging supports and interventions for student learning and having ongoing communications with parents and carers, education assistants, teachers, middle leaders, and primary schools. You will also line manage the Learning Support Coordinator to provide support for students with disabilities; and work with School Psychologists to improve well-being, diagnoses, learning & academic progress of students at risk.
Key responsibilities may include the school’s management system Compass, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), Reporting to Parents, and data analysis and interpretation.

Tom Price sits within the Shire of Ashburton and is some 747 metres above sea level, making it the highest town in WA and a haven for the weary traveller. Teachers and School Administrators employed at Tom Price Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $17,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
