Belmont City College (CC) is seeking a highly professional, passionate, and innovative Teacher - Design and Technology to join our team.
The role of the Teacher - Design and Technology is to develop students’ skills in the use of tools and machinery for design projects using a variety of materials. The successful applicant will ideally have professional knowledge, understanding and experience to develop and implement engaging and relevant secondary school programs in Years 7 to 12 general technologies courses, including the contexts of Woodwork and Metalwork. Experience in industry and/or delivering Vocational Education and Training programs, including Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, and holding a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, is desirable.
We are seeking a teacher who is student and relationship focused, enthusiastic and innovative with the capacity to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences while catering for diverse student learning needs. The successful applicant would work in fully equipped state-of-the-art workshops with comprehensive and up-to-date facilities and equipment. They will ideally display that they integrate a growth mindset into their teaching and their approach to young people.
Ideally the successful applicant will have the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and will have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to our school community. They will utilise best classroom practice whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods. The successful applicant will ideally be dedicated, passionate and highly effective educators who have a deep understanding of and experience with a diverse range of student learning needs and styles and will inspire students to achieve to their potential.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
