This is a permanent, part-time (0.4 FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2024

Hillcrest Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Teacher – Early Childhood Education - Music.

The successful applicant should be innovative, energetic and possess the skills and qualities to promote excellence, build effective teams and implement the music curriculum. Early Childhood qualifications are recommended but not essential for this position. You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.

The position of Music is shared with another music teacher, and includes teaching students in Kindy to Year One. Preferred days are Wednesday and Friday, although this is flexible for the right applicant. You should address the criteria within the context of the school, and include music knowledge and skills in your application. Training in the Kodaly or Orff philosophy would match the current curriculum delivery.

Established in 1950, Hillcrest PS is located in the suburb of Bayswater and is prominently situated on the crest of a large hill. Hillcrest PS serves children predominantly from the suburbs of Bayswater, Bedford and Embleton and has a growing school population. The school has a strong connection and involvement within the local community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
