Appointment Pool
Bertram Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and highly motivated Early Childhood Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2025.
Suitable applicants will ideally create a safe and nurturing classroom environment that enables both high quality, rigorous play-based learning and developmentally appropriate explicit instruction. A commitment to practices that support the National Quality Standard will be highly desirable. Possessing ongoing development of cultural awareness and responsiveness is strongly encouraged.
Suitable applicants will ideally be familiar with and committed to a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) model, and will ideally possess the capacity to explicitly teach behaviours and mindsets that support self-regulation and emotional literacy. The school currently implements the Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS) program alongside the Positive Behaviour Support team – Friendly, Resilient, Respectful, Engaged, and Everyone’s Responsible (FRREE). We are committed to using restorative practices to create a positive school culture behaviours are emphasised and reinforced.
The school’s Early Childhood Education Teachers are a confident and competent team, committed to a Whole School Pedagogical Framework to ensure all students have equal learning opportunities. Our teachers work hard, show resilience, and have a high level of interpersonal and reflective skills which they share and exhibit in a range of contexts.
As an Apple Distinguished School and with a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) iPad program staff are expected to plan, share and implement programs using this and other technology and support and mentor others within the school. Experience and knowledge of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and iPads in a learning environment is highly desirable.

Bertram PS is an Independent Public School located in the Bertram housing subdivision south of Perth. Bertram is a local intake school. Bertram PS has strong community and partnership links with The Smith Family, Murdoch University and the City of Kwinana. These relationships are devoted to improving the programs and resources available at the school.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
