Appointment Pool
Swan View Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teachers – English for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.
Suitable applicants should be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment. Applicants who can adopt inclusive and restorative practices, and build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community, are encouraged to apply. The ability to establish and maintain effective communication with parents and caregivers is highly desirable. In addition, suitable applicants should be self-reflective, able to establish and maintain a positive classroom environment, and encourage students to achieve their potential by embedding our school values in their classroom practice; Diligent, Accountable, Respectful, Extraordinary (DARE).
Suitable applicants should have a sound knowledge and understanding of the Year 7–12 Western Australian English Curriculum. Swan View SHS offers Foundation, General an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank English.
Suitable applicants should also be able to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum, and ideally be proficient at developing teaching strategies that meet the educational needs of students with a range of ability levels. The ability to deliver explicit instructional techniques and high impact teaching strategies would be an advantage.

Our school is located in the eastern suburb of Swan View. It is approximately 25 kilometres from the Perth Central Business district in the Perth Hills on the edge of the Darling Scarp, just to the west of the John Forrest National Park.
We are situated 15 minutes from the Swan Valley, where there are world-class wineries, breweries, distilleries, countless gourmet artisan goods, handcrafted wares, bustling markets, vibrant studios, top-notch eateries and endless experiences, just 25 minutes from Perth.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
